Nils Hinnas, artist ....

A couple of days ago I was tipped about this original artist, who just opened a small exhibition in our local art hall here were I live.

His artwork is a mix of painting and sculpture, they are not just painted, but carved out of the wood with .precision.

When Nils talks, his eyes are lit like by a fire, may it be about the fibers in the wood, lithographs or the area that immediately linked us together, the fascination over old Hollywood portraits and the photographers of that era. As the history was some kind of fuel.

Here are som painting/sculptures of some famous Swedish celebrities, first Hans Alfredsson, and below the great childrens book writer Astrid Lindgren.

Here is a detail shot of the craftmanship behind the "painting".

I had two great meetings with Nils. On the one today I documented some of his work, as he does not have that many images of them.

Photo gathering at Skeppsholmen ...

Click on image for larger version

There was a terrible weather yesterday, and it was set to be the day for a photoshoot amongst the members of Modellebilder.se ( forum for models and photographers with almost 10000 members ), at Skeppsholmen, a beautiful little island in the middle of Stockholm.

7 of the 25 that signed up came to the event. I can understand that as the weather was so bad. The brave seven could shoot for an hour or so before the rain became to intense, so we had to seek shelter at the East Asian museum, where we could tak some additional images.

I shot Sandra, a model Ive shoot at a similar meet in may this year. I used a Sigma 500 Super and a transparent umbrella for these images. Black and white portrair, only available light inside the museum, and I used a 50 mm 1.8 for that shot.

Portraits of Amina ...

Click to view a larger version

I am very fond of portraits and also fond of retouching, and if you mix the two you might end up with something like a white powdered face and a very lumpy eyeshadow in gold.

I made the skin more even with Dodge and Burn. The layer mask from the dodge and burn is below as well as a close up of the eye. Click on image to enlarge.

Below she looks lke Kim Basinger (Ooops, that image was also in the last post but in black and white ).

And heres a happy gal, placed on a road outside Heringe Slott in Stockholm. I used lens Blur with a msak to get the shallow depth of field in the background.

Mixed images with Amina ...

Sometimes you get ideas during the shoot that get better than the ones you planned for a week. I had planned to use some 3d backgrounds, but had to let it go as I could not get the composites good enough. The one above with the swords is a 3d background that kind of worked though, but I had planned for four or five images with that setting.

Below is Amina in a desert kind of setting. I added the shadow of another Amina for balance and as it triggers the imagination a litlle. Who is it and why is she there. I think she is coming with some water or so. Or maybe its the reflector holder at the shoot =)

Its way into autumn here in Sweden. I arranged the leaves to fit the scene here. They were shot separately last year, and came in handy now.

Here she looks a little kike Kim Basinger =)

Plenty mor images of Amina to come ...
